It is not an easy job to maintain an automobile. Today, I had a flat tire when I finished shopping in COSTCO. There was a nail inside rear right tire. The good news is that the tire was bought from COSTCO so that I got free service. The only cost was time — 3 hours in COSTCO tire center. I also enjoyed the first rain this year.

Then, I noticed that there were few people in COSTCO tire center, or even in COSTCO. I asked one of my roommates, who has spent a lot of years in US. He told me that normally, people are out and search for new cars around this time of the year.

Why is that? An on-line search gave me the answer. There is a very good article talking about revenue and inventory management on the car dealership side. The best day to buy a car is always the last two days of the month and the best time of the year to purchase a car is always at the end of the year before December. Since automobile manufacturers start to provide deep coupons sometime around September or earlier, the end of September or the beginning of October might be the right time to secure a deal.
